Does Today's Church Lack The Fear Of God?

You know, its a sad state of affairs in the church when the bar of holiness is lowered.

It is so sad and actually disgusting when I hear men from pulpits lowering God's standard for purity and consecration. Really its a sign of the times..."perilous times!" ...having a form of godliness..and denying the power. "The power of the Gospel is a changed life".. and when compromise and lukewarmness sets in, and excuses, arguments, and defense is given for loose living and justifying sin what is actually happening is the power of the Gospel is being denied.

People may dress it up and say "I feel free" or "It doesn't take all that"...The bottom line is compromise has just gripped their heart.... God have mercy!

But just for the record I still believe in holiness! I still believe in walking upright before the Lord. I still believe ALL the Bible not just the feel-good parts! -- I still believe in "Come out from among them and be separate.-- I still believe in "Without holiness no man shall see the Lord"-- I still believe in being called out and separate unto the Lord. You can keep all that compromise and loose living, this world is not my home. I'm looking for a better place, a holy place where I will see Jesus!...Amen!

In a church age that is lukewarm and complacent, we need to hear truth! I believe that were getting close to the point in modern Christianity where truth doesn't matter. Fables, funny stories, and entertainment rule in most churches. People want to be spectators and they want to "feel good". "Feel good" churches and Pastors are running rampant in the so-called church.

Holiness, surrender, counting the cost, consecration, fasting, evangelism, total devotion, prayer, hatred for sin- just to name a few are hardly ever preached and talked about. We see skits, drama's and video clips. Where are the preachers of old that cry loud and spare not? Where's the preachers that weep for souls? Why don't we hear preaching on the blood anymore? Why is there no emphasis on soul winning? When the last time you heard a sermon on fasting?-- It's looking grim folks. We need to seek God on our own. We need to get into the Word and pray. Don't wait for someone else to do it for you. Ask God to keep you from deception and on the straight and narrow path. Amen. ~Igy

Leonard Ravenill On "REPENTANCE"

Here’s a short word on “repentance” by the late Leonard Ravenhill…some great words to meditate on…

..You see, today we try to organize. We try to get a bunch of people together. God never did that. God takes individual men. He takes Moses to the backside of the desert. John the Baptist was in the wilderness until the day of his showing forth.

Jesus, the Son of God who had left the Glory, spent thirty years in training to minister! John Baptist thirty years in training. The apostle Paul at least thirty years. Moses at least forty years; and we want to go to Bible School six months and come out like a super prophet! It’s the time factor that kills most of us. Tell me how much time you spend alone with God and I will tell you how spiritual you are. Not how many meetings you go to. Not how many gifts you have. Not how many sermons you preach. Not how many records you’ve made. Tell me what time you spend alone with God... and I’ll tell you how spiritual you are.

…Who preaches repentance anymore? There is an old hymn that says, Repentance is: "to leave the sins I’ve done before, and show that I in earnest grieve, by doing them no more."

Repentance is more than saying, "I’m sorry." Repentance is mental. It’s something in my mind, I’m going this way and I turn that way. When I’m going this way I’m saying,
"God is in the wrong and I am in the right." When I turn around I say, "God is in the right, if He sends me to hell He is in the right."

That is repentance. It’s not just repenting for the sin I’ve done, it’s repenting about the motive that made me do the sin. It’s going past the fruit to the root because if the root of corruption is there, there is going to be fruit coming out that is wrong. Romans 6 talks about having your fruit unto Holiness and it’s talking there to regenerate people, not people that claim to be filled by the Holy Ghost.

….We have forgotten about the wrath of God. A friend saw a bumper sticker and you know what it said on it? "Jesus is coming and He is as mad as hell." Sacrilege? No. II Thessalonians 1 says, He is coming in flaming fire in judgment on this world. In other words, He’s as mad as hell. May be it is a bad way of putting it, but it’s the truth. You see, we are all looking for "gentle Jesus meek and mild." The attitude of the average Christian today is relax and be raptured. But He is coming with flaming vengeance on this world. There is a time when His Spirit’s forbearance runs out. There is going to be a day of the vengeance of God. And when God gets angry you’ve no idea what it is. Like a thousand volcanoes exploding. He has appointed a day in which He is going to judge the world….and the poor blind world doesn’t know much about it, and the poor blind church doesn’t think much about it now.

My name is "IGY" I am the moderator, you can read my profile to find out more about me if you wish...Anyway-I'm excited to get this blog going again. Some of you know we gave a go at a website but that really didn't work out like we planned. The site went down and it was difficult to manage the site anyway.
